 Hi! I'm Beth Burgin, owner and tutor for From the Heart Tutoring. I am a certified teacher. I have worked as a classroom  teacher in public schools for over seven years. I have experience with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ESL, ADHD, and Autism. I specialize in 6th grade Math, 7th grade Math, 8th grade Math and Algebra. Prior to teaching I worked as an engineer in Austin, TX. My degree is in Engineering from the University of TX at Austin. 

 Hello! I'm Evan Varan, and I tutor all sorts of things. Currently, I am a Senior at Texas State University and I am studying Electrical Engineering. I have been tutoring virtually and in person for over 6 years. I also have experience teaching students with special needs. Right now I am offering tutoring in Math from kindergarten to Calculus BC. I can also tutor in Chemistry, Physics, computer science,  and more. Hope to see you soon! 

My name is Mirelle Marquez and I am a 7th grade science teacher in Round Rock ISD. I graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Human Biology and minors in Human Development and Psychology. I have experience teaching students with dyslexia, autism, ADHD, ESL, special education, and TAG students. I am also a fluent Spanish speaker supporting the Spanish speaking community. I am available to tutor science, high school biology, and conversational Spanish. I love working with my students and I am excited for the opportunity to work with your student! 

Hi!  My name is Jason Tutone, and I am a Gifted and Talented teacher at River Place Elementary in LISD.   I have vast teaching experience in upper elementary and extensive tutoring experience with all grade levels.   I have an undergraduate degree in Journalism and a Masters in Elementary Education.  I make great connections with all my students.  I have worked with students from varying backgrounds and have been successful with students who have ADHD and Autism.  I look forward to making a connection with your child and helping them succeed in their academics!

Barbara has years of experience working with children academically. Her background includes seven years of substitute teaching in the Leander ISD. She has worked with almost every grade and spent a great deal of that time working in SPED. She is passionate about helping children succeed and doing so in a positive way. “Children fuel off our energy and mindset, so creating a happy environment and rewarding their strengths, builds confidence when overcoming challenges .” 

Barbara has  seven daughters (practically a football team), including her last two at home, 15 year old twins. She enjoys family vacations and going to football games with her amazing husband. After two years in college she started writing for Text-Broker and Writer’s Digest and is currently working on writing her own book and dreams of writing a series of children’s books.

I currently reside in Leander and have over 15 years of teaching experience. Most of my years were spent as a full-time classroom teacher, including 4 years in middle school and 11 years in high school.  Additionally, I have held Head of Math Department and Vice Principal positions. I earned bachelor’s in Mathematics Education with minor Science Education. I am also certified IB DP Math teacher by Toronto University, Teacher Trainer by Nile-Elt UK. I taught Algebra, SAT, and Calculus in HSE. 

My favorite activities include spending time with my family, watching movies, reading, and solving logic puzzles.

Greetings everyone! My name is Myan Nelson, and I would love to be your child’s math tutor. Currently, I specialize in tutoring 1st-7th grade Math. I am a certified teacher who taught 5th and 6th grade Math for a total of 8 years. I was also a 3rd grade teacher for two years. I had the privilege of staying home with my son during his elementary school years and subbed for several years at his elementary before returning to full-time teaching.  My teaching goal now is to not only assist students one on one to grow in their math skills  but to also emotionally guide them through any anxieties or fears that they might have towards math.  Growing up with academic anxieties myself, I can empathize with these feelings. Providing that safe place to make Math mistakes (a necessity for Math growth) is my mission.  I look forward to working with your child!

Hello!  My name is Karen Sommerhauser and I am a former high school biology teacher and middle school science teacher.  I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with an Ecology emphasis.  I also graduated from UT Arlington with a master's degree in Science Education.  My experience with students is vast.  I have taught students with varying special education needs who also had a 504 or and an IEP.  I also have a lot of experience with ESL and gifted students.  I am available to tutor Science/Biology at all grade levels including the following high school science classes, AP Biology, Biology, Environmental Science, and Earth Science. I love science, talking about science, and am very passionate about science education.  I look forward to working with your student!
